Baterinho – Dave Weckl special

Seeing Dave Weckl play way back in the eighties inspired me to start practicing drums for real. First thing I did was buy his “Contemporary Drummer + One” study package (with cassette!!!). Years later I attended a masterclass and asked him afterwards to try the Baterinho I took. He looked at it and said: “If this is what I have been thinking about, I have to kill you”. He then sat on in and played it like a pro! He asked me to stay in touch and over the years I did. I updated him on the developments and the Kickstarter campaign. On April 27th Dave kicked off the European tour with the Tom Kennedy Project and was kind enough to agree and meet with me so I could present the latest Baterinho model to him. I also took the opportunity to hand over the Baterinho that I custom built to thank him for the inspiration over the years. Dave immediatly recognized that the artwork on the backside was inspired by the “Contemporary Drummer + One” package. He spent the next 20 minutes trying his new instrument. He told us he would take it to his house in Italy. It was a very special moment and we hope Dave will enjoy many hours playing his Baterinho while living la dolce vita.
